We are planning to get married. Can we have sex?

Wow. I read the story of a young lady on Christianity Today and I felt I should share so that someone else out there will learn. Below is her story: 'I started dating John* in high school. It was the first serious relationship either of us had ever had, and we were absolutely crazy about one another. We decided pretty early on that we were made for each other, and everyone in our small town agreed. They all thought we'd end up getting married and living happily ever after. I thought so too. John and I had our lives planned out. After high school we'd go to the same college. Then as soon as we graduated, we'd get married. We knew what kind of house we'd live in and the cars we'd drive. We even decided how many kids we'd have and what we'd name them. Both of us were convinced that nothing could ever come between us. That's how we justified our physical relationship. When we started having sex, we figured it was okay since we knew we would marry e...

She thought it was just stomach ache then out comes a baby!

A woman in Iowa, was surprised to be holding a newborn baby after going into a shower to ease stomach pain. 24-year-old Brittany Young of Des Moines, said that the incident unfolded this week in her home. Young knew that she was pregnant and had recurring stomach pains on Wednesday. It turned out that during her last visit to her doctor, she misunderstood a worker from the hospital. Instead of being pregnant 12 weeks pregnant, she had 12 weeks left to her pregnancy. She went into the shower, and not even five minutes after that, she felt the need to push. Soon after, her daughter, Miracle, was born, weighing 6 pounds and 8 ounces. The baby's eyes were open and she stared at her mother. Dr. Michael Cardwell at the Mercy Medical Center said that the woman suffered a medical condition called precipitous labor, meaning that contractions may begin just a few hours before delivery. Young asked her friend to call an ambulance. Police officers who arrived at the scene, found Yo...

Please Help! Is Love Enough For Me to Marry Her?

I was listening to a radio program talking about relationships. One of the hostesses made a comment: That when there is love, that is a pointer that he is the right person to marry. My heart leaped in objection. In as much as her statement sounded so right, yet it is so false. Tell me, how many people get married today if not because they were in love? Practically everyone. And how many marriages have survived after few months? You know the answer. So if love is the only basis for taking the ring, then there should be no divorces since most people get married because they were so in love. So even though love is important in this case but it can’t be the only determining factor. Most people over look another very important criteria: Purpose. Purpose in marriage gives the couple the will to go on, that even when those differences come, because you are convinced in your spirit that you both were meant to be, it gives you the will to work things through. Nowadays, when a marriage goes wr...

Househelp Wahala

My hands were getting really full and I needed a house help to help me with the chores and the children but sincerely with the stories flying around these days about house helps one can’t help but be more careful. The very thought of leaving my house to a total stranger or my children, my most precious possessions, at the mercy of this stranger for hours on seemed scary. So I went on enquiry spree, asking friends who had been in the business before me in order to get their thoughts on the matter. This was my discovery: no one had a single good thing to say about house helps. To find a reliable one is like finding that ‘one’ in a million. That’s how difficult it is. Problems with house helps have ranged from stealing, maltreating your children in your absence, murder, sexual perversion and in some cases adultery. So most women are skeptical and prefer to use their relatives as helps instead. A friend told me she has had over 10 house helps in 2 years. Among these house helps one u...

He Only Touches Her When He Wants S*x....

If you want to win your wife’s heart and keep her satisfied at all times give her three basic things: attention, companionship and good s*x. Exactly! Every other thing can follow. I speak from a woman’s point of view. Women, unlike what some of you guys think, are so simple to deal with. Yes I know that sometimes we have our ‘moments’ but it’s not a big deal…lol. We can still so easily be appeased. Years ago, a woman put to bed and for the first few weeks after child birth, her husband did not as much as touch her or even cuddle her in bed. How she longed for his warm embrace, a caress, a kiss, anything to remind her that he loves her and is in this with her, but nothing happened. The man simply kept a safe distance. He failed to recognize that his wife needed his attention and companionship. Her emotions failed her and she became depressed. One day she just could not take it anymore so she wailed out her frustration to her husby, “ I’m tired! I’m tired!”. The poor guy was so ex...

The Missing Piece of Armor

A soldier reported to his commander as their troops prepared for battle. The Commander’s eyes quickly scrutinized the soldier from head to toe and with a deep frown on his face said to him, “One piece of your armor is missing…” Surprised, the soldier assessed his gadgets to find that his helmet was not with him. Every other thing was in place: the breast plate, shield, sword, the belt and shoes except the helmet. ‘What happened?’ , he thought frantically. He must have forgotten it in his hurry to report to duty. “Oh Sir!”, he grimaced, “I forgot my helmet! So sorry about that Sir. But I can still manage without the helmet since every other armor is here with me Sir.” His fully armored superior shook his head and answered curtly, “No. It won’t do. To fight in this battle you need the ‘whole’ armor in order to win!” “Forgive me sir…”, came the naïve soldier, “ but who exactly are we fighting? I’m very skilled. I believe I can handle our enemies without a helmet.” The Commander g...

This is for the guys...funny or serious?

He noticed her attitude has become snobbish and offensively callous. No more the radiant, heart-warming smile. All that have been replaced by the cold, cynical look of a woman who is fed up and wants out. This occurred few days after he silently announced his inability to buy her the shoes she requested for- by actually not buying her the shoes days later. She was the umpteenth girl he was dating and sincerely he was scared stiff to lose her. "How much do you even have in your account?" She asked. "I want to see..." Like a sheep, he took her to an ATM to make the 'revelation'. That was the last straw. She left him without uttering a word. When he called her later the next day, she asked him, "Hope you are browsing for a new girlfriend?" The guy was shocked a bit but part of him felt she was just kidding. Casually he said, "No, I'm not. Are you?" And she replied, "Yes. I'm browsing for a new boyfriend." His heart...

Again...(A SHORT STORY)

She flung it through the window, seething with rage. One more word from him,he would get blows not just slaps. Like an infuriated bull, her eyes alight and raw with anger, she glared at him. Again...again...again he's done it, why? Why? why? why? And each time she always (always underlined) managed to flare up. He knew how to get her there. He always pushed her to her red zone. Right now all she wanted was to kick and bite him but on a second thought, she opted for the one most women knew how to do;she used her tongue, raining abuses on him. He was calm, a slight smile stuck to his face like he was enjoying the 'little rift'. He always, always does that thus fueling her the more. How she hated him just then. How she wanted to tear at his face. With his hands tucked into his pocket, he smiled down at her, his demeanor cool and calm calculating the appropriate time for him to speak. When she finally piped down, he said softly in an unperturbed manner, "Why do you always...

Word Peddlers On the Prowl! Beware!

There are men on the prowl who worm their way into people's homes to take advantage of weak women. Through so called prophecies, they brainwash them and plant fears in their hearts in the bid to extort money from them. They demand payment for so called deliverance prayers in God's name. They are specialists in sowing discord and suspicion in marriages and in breaking homes. These so called Pastors in the false pretense to know God's Word, swindle their way into people's lives. It is actually a form of business where you even pay for consultation before you see the 'Pastor'. And when you go in, they prophesy doom and destruction to intimidate you to fear. In doing this they succeed in enslaving you by it and destroy your relationship with everyone around you, especially those closest to you. Many have fallen for this guise. But does the Spirit of God plant fear in people's hearts? Does He sow discord in people's homes? Does He tear down marriages? When y...

A Date with the Devil: A True life Story

Henry was my room mate. He was the only son of his parents and was studying accountancy in the University. He was known among his friends for his wittiness, smartness, stubbornness and his overly ambitious spirit. He knew how to get what he wanted, be it girls, money, attention etc. Coupled with his good looks, he was the toast of the ladies on Campus. He made friends with people notorious in school for their bad behavior. They had lots of girl friends and were always clubbing, smoking and having 'fun'. With fashion, girls and fun as their priority, lectures and studies were hardly attended to. Through one of their discussions in the room, I got a hunch that they were celebrated cultists back in their secondary school days. Henry and his friends were just freshers. They were in first year! Now on several occasions a colleague of his, who also was our room mate, had spoken to him about his quick lifestyle. He pointed out to him how people with such life pattern had ended up in ...

What Do You Say To Your Children?

Your children will provoke you once in a while, be sure of that. In anger, you may lash out at them the very first words that come to your mind. But before you do, pause. Think of the consequences of what you are about to say. Know this, that death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruits (Proverbs 18:21). Your words over your children can have great influence over their lives. So don't abuse that position but use it as the child's parent to speak good into your child's life. Many parents have spoken wrongly to their children and ended up destroying the destinies of their own... in anger. That's how powerful your words can be. Imagine a parent telling her growing child: "You will never amount to anything!" "Stupid boy! You are an abomination and a curse." "Crazy girl!" "Fool!" "You are a bad child!" Sometime ago, my little girl was being so fussy. She whimpered all...

Wanting To Choose a Life Partner?

I wouldn't know if I am expert in this but I have been there during these moments of indecision about the choice of who to marry. For me,it was relatively 'easy' because of the certain steps I took and I believe if you do the same it will work for you. Step 1: Have the right mindset You can never have the right mindset, the right outlook or perspective for the choice of of a spouse until you are born again. When you become born again , the way you think and act will change. As you keep studying God's Word, your mind is daily renewed (Rom 12:2). You don't see things superficially anymore like the world does. You begin to understand, as long as you want to please God, that there is more ,spiritually more, to making a choice and making the 'right' choice. Now what's the right mindset? Know first and foremost that God loves you and wants you to live to the praise of His glory. Know that you are not an accident, you are here for a purpos...

In Whose Company Are You?

Bad company corrupts good habit(1 Cor 15:33). But it takes a process for corruption to set in. It may not be automatic but as long as you continue to sit with the scornful, you will definitely become like one of them. It's only a matter of time. So, don't sit comfy and say, "Yeah, I'm born again, filled with the Spirit. I'm not gonna be influenced by my ungodly friends!" You sit pretty and enjoy their company and don't even make a move to tell them about Jesus. It 's a dangerous ground that you are standing on! The start of the corruption process is: Step 1:Your nonchalant mindset. Don't say it doesn't matter. It matters! If it was something to be treated lightly it wouldn't even be mentioned in the Bible. Step 2: You become indifferent and tolerant At this time your friends' provocative lifestyle no more irritate you. "It's their life...", you say and you simply flow with them. Do you not know that you friends...

Things You Don't Know That Happen When You Cheat on Your Spouse

Over a live radio broadcast, opinions were sampled from men on why they cheat on their wives. One said there was something pleasurable about cheating and adventurous about facing the risk of being caught. Another quipped that variety is sweet. That he gets bored easily sleeping with just one woman. The other said that it's natural for men to cheat. And you, what do you think? Do you think cheating is fun? Well, it won't be much fun to you anymore once you find out the implications of it. I know some people will just laugh at this and say, "Serious? What implications? If there were, why is 'everyone' doing it?". I remember discussing with a young lady who was soon to be married and she told me her unshakeable convictions about all men being cheats. She said she was okay with it as long as her husband doesn't bring his concubines into their house to share her home. And from the opinions that I have sampled in the past, most women share this thought, unfortun...

Why Marriages Don't Last? These Could Be the Reasons...

Marriage is a very serious issue. So before you step into it, stop and answer the questions below. It will help you know how ready you are to go the extra mile. One: Are you getting married for superficial reasons? When you choose your spouse based on wealth, beauty, fame , affluence or just to be happy, then you will be building on a very shaky ground. These things are temporary and there is no assurance that they will last forever. Even if they do, it's in only in marriage that you will discover how foolish your choice had been. That those qualities didn't matter at all. They don't keep you married. If you choose a man because he is rich or a woman because she is beautiful, or due to her figure, then you will be making a huge marital mistake. If those things mattered, Jennifer Lopez, for example, would stay married. But she had kept going in and out of marriages. Is that not enough reason to choose carefully and wisely? Now when you depend on these outward features for...

Any life regrets? Here is one Common Reason...

Have you ever done something that you regret doing in the past? I have. I regret passing up on opportunities because I confused my timidity for shyness. For instance, when I was in secondary school, I was presented with the golden chance of being the school's head girl. I turned it down. In university, someone walked up to me one day and asked, "Why are you unsocial ?" I merely smiled and waved it off with a few casual comments. I didn't take it to heart...as usual. That would not be the first time anyone would say such to me. I have heard it time and time again. I merely dismissed it as a figment of their imagination. Little did I realize I was hiding in the cocoon of timidity and this, unknown to me, was bad for human relations. I didn't know my little charade puts people off. I was blind. When I look back at the opportunities I missed, opportunities I would have used to make an impact in so many lives in the past, the more I see how naive and foolish I was. ...

Relationship Tips for the Married: 'Don't's

1. Don't get familiar with your spouse Is this a surprising comment to make? I will clarify myself. Have you heard of the adage that familiarity breeds contempt? It's natural for a couple to get familiar with their bodies, activities and behaviors. But don't let it get in the way of how you treat or regard your spouse. Don't stop studying your partner. Don't stop wooing your spouse. Learn something new about him/her everyday. It will keep you from taking your spouse for granted and make you begin to devalue them. But do you know that one doesn't know the value of what one has until one has lost it? Let this not be your story. Daily studying your spouse keeps you interested in him/her and makes you discover better ways to satisfy them. It's just like our relationship with God. No matter how long we have been in our relationship with Him through Christ, we should never get familiar with God. If you do, you will begin to take certain things about Him for gr...
