Imagine you see someone walking straight towards the edge of a cliff, and they’re just seconds away from falling.
What would you do?
Would you whisper, “Excuse me… please be careful…”?
No!
You would SHOUT!
“STOP! DON’T TAKE ANOTHER STEP!”
Now, someone watching might think,
“Wow, that’s harsh. You are making him uncomfortable.”
But you’re not shouting because you hate them.
You’re shouting because you love them.
You know something they may not realize: Their next step could cost them their life.
And sometimes, that’s what preaching the Gospel looks like.
We want to believe that love always sounds soft.
That love always comforts.
That love never confronts.
But real love can be firm.
Sometimes love has to say:
“STOP.”
“TURN AROUND.”
“THIS PATH IS DESTROYING YOU.”
Not because we want to condemn people.
But because we care enough to warn them.
So, yes…
Sometimes, when we preach the Gospel, we shout.
Because love doesn't always pamper.
And sometimes, love has to shout before it’s too late.
Sometimes, the most loving thing you can do is be firm enough to say what someone desperately needs to hear.
That's tough love.
Because real love doesn't just make you feel good.
Sometimes…
real love fights to save you.
Jesus did the same. So do I. And so should you.
