Silicon Valley’s New Way of Making Babies

In Silicon Valley, having babies is no longer just about love and luck—it’s becoming a data-driven process.

A company called Orchid, founded by Noor Siddiqui, now lets couples use genetic testing to choose the healthiest embryos during IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). For $2,500 per embryo (on top of IVF costs), parents can check for over 1,200 genetic diseases and even assess the chances of conditions like cancer, Alzheimer’s, and schizophrenia.

Siddiqui believes we’re entering a time when:

“Sex is for fun. Embryo screening is for babies.”

She envisions a world where people pick their children with the help of spreadsheets and algorithms—choosing the one with the best health profile.

Orchid’s technology is already in 100+ IVF clinics across the U.S., especially popular in tech cities like San Francisco and Austin. Tech elites, including Elon Musk’s partner Shivon Zilis, are reportedly already using it.

Here's how it works:

Scientists take just 5 cells from a tiny embryo.

They sequence its full DNA.

Then, using AI, they predict the baby’s risk for future illnesses.

While some call this the future of preventive parenting, others raise serious concerns:

Could it lead to a new form of eugenics (choosing only “ideal” babies)?

Will only the rich have access to this?

Is the science truly reliable?

Some scientists warn the technology is still not perfect and may not work well for people of all ethnic backgrounds. There’s also no strong regulation to monitor it yet.

Still, many parents, especially those worried about inherited conditions, are turning to Orchid for peace of mind.

To Siddiqui, this isn’t about “designing” babies. It’s about helping families avoid disease—something very personal to her, as her own mother went blind from a genetic disorder.

So, while the idea may seem futuristic—or even risky—this fertility revolution is already happening. And for some, it offers hope for a healthier next generation.

God is the Creator. The Source of Life. Through sexual reproduction, man is to multiply upon the face of the earth. Sex was the tool God put in place to make this happen. 

But now they want to reduce sex to just fun (no longer procreation also). Now man will be given the choice to create their own ideal, perfect babies outside the natural birth process. Man will now be the creator.
