Recently I left a reply at the comment section that some pastors do struggle with porn too and how much they need prayers like everyone of us. And to solidify this I came across a publication on Charisma .
Statistics drawn from an online study including 432 pastors and 338 youth pastors show that many pastors struggle or have struggled with pornography and even more youth pastors struggle with it.
In the study, 57 percent of the pastors admitted to a current or past struggle compared to 64 percent of youth pastors. 14 percent of pastors said they are dealing with it currently compared to 21 percent of youth pastors.
I wish I could get a more generalized stat (hopefully soon) but this is to make us catch a glimpse of what it is like out there in these last days. This is what is found in the Church!
I do not write this to discourage you and make you ask 'what hope do I have? If a pastor is doing it, what about me?' This rather is to encourage us not to neglect our pastors but to show them love, care and attention, constantly praying for them.
Remember the adage 'Strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter'? Pastors have thousands of people under their spiritual care so they are always in the line of fire. Satan targets them in order to pull down many Christians 'who look up to them'. The battle is real.
That's why we should look unto Jesus ALONE whilst bearing in mind that these pastors are also human who can be tempted and can also give in to temptation. Jesus is our perfect example. He is called 'the Standard'.
