This is according to channels television report: A Federal High Court in Abuja has refused to grant an application for an interim injunction to stop the use of card readers for the conduct of Nigeria’s general elections starting on Saturday. The suit was filed by a Senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Wasiu Taiwo. Senator Taiwo, through his counsel, Ajibola Oloyede, sought an order of the court to stop the use of the Smart Card Readers on grounds that they were unconstitutional for election in Nigeria. Non-Tested Development He also claimed that the electronic device could plunge the nation into chaos, as it was a new and non-tested development in the electoral process. But the presiding Judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, refused the order and put the case off until April 24. Worried by the uncertainties that may follow the March and April, 2015 general elections in Nigeria, United States president, Mr. Barrack Obama, has delegated the Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield, to be part of those that will monitor the elections. According to a media note made available to the Leadership by the Office of the Spokesperson of the United State Department on Friday, Ms Thomas- Greenfield who is billed to arrive Nigeria this morning (Saturday) will lead the country’s official diplomatic observation mission for today’s (Saturday) presidential and national assembly elections. This is the latest example of United States support for a credible, peaceful electoral process in Nigeria.

32 year old Uwem Asuquo has been arrested by the Lagos State police on the grounds of raping his 10 year-old niece. It was reported that Asuquo offered to allow the victim to live in his house after his brother died to ease the burden off the sister-in-law. Unfortunately, unknown to the girl's mother, Iya Tope, her brother-in-law continually raped her daughter. The victim at some point escaped to live with her grandmother. One day, Asuquo came to the grandmother's house, took the girl to the mosque and raped her. A suspicious neighbor who saw them together called the police.
